Sam Davis joined Show Support in December of 2017. Within two weeks he became one of the most requested crew members in Victoria.
Having completed a Cabinet Maker apprenticeship at the age of 22 and specialising in kitchen and bathroom installations, Sam brings a wealth of trades experience to his role which has been fully utilised on various set builder and carpentry call outs.
His no fuss, get-the-job-done tradesman attitude often wins clients over and makes for a perfect fit with Victoria’s pro-active team.
As with many Showies, Sam expresses that one of the great things about working with Show Support is the flexibility and the variety of work. “I love the fact that I am always working at different locations with different clients and different crew from job to job. I’m always learning something and there are so many really genuine people in the industry.”
“I understand it goes both ways. Show Support gives me a wealth of opportunities but on the other hand, if we are short on crew and I’m asked to do a shift swap for the benefit of Show Support and its clients, then it’s actually a bit of a compliment that they would ask me … and I know because of the flexibility I bring to the table, I am also well looked after.”
Sam pauses before continuing, “That’s another thing, some companies ask for favours and make promises but rarely come through when you need them. Show Support keeps their commitments.” Sam goes onto explain, “With Show Support, you can go as far as you want and the possibilities of advancement are endless based on your own effort.”
It was precisely this attitude along with Sam’s outstanding work ethic, humility and loyalty to Show Support that earned him the highest honour that can be bestowed upon any Showie: SHS Immortality.
Working interstate on Vivid was a highlight for Sam as well as being part of productions including the Wiggles, The KFC Big Bash League, The AFL and the stage production of Paw Patrol.
Sam’s favourite Clients include Res-X, Mediatec and Techfront with him being assigned Crew Chief throughout Techfront’s Big Bash League 2018/19 season due to his professional rapport with the client and experience with their equipment and requirements.
Sam Davis is a valued member of Victoria’s Top Crew and a role model for many of the state’s regular crew members and new recruits.
