Dear SHS Crew Chiefs and Senior Crew Members, Operations Team Members and Employees,
All Senior SHS Crew Members and employees should become familiar with the online Venue Safety Inspection and use it regularly.
The VSI can be found under the WHS drop down on the Show Support Website.
In addition to the Safety Induction required to be completed by all Crew Members prior to the commencement of each Shift, the Senior Crew Member or Crew Chief should conduct the Venue Safety Inspection.
The Senior Crew Member or Crew Chief should liaise with the Client contact before the Shift commences and conduct a walk-through safety inspection of all the work areas where SHS Crew Members may be required to perform their duties. In particular, look for any potential Safety Issues that may jeopardise the safety of any personnel onsite and report them in the Report Safety Issue section of the form or the Report Safety issue form found under WHS in the Show Support website or under Feedback.
The Venue Safety Inspection allows you to indicate which areas of the Venue have been inspected.
Additionally you may record the potential Safety Issues as well as the Control Measures used to mitigate workplace risks by using the Report Safety Issue section of the form or the online Report Safety Issue form.
If there are no potential Safety Issues that are not already covered by the SWMS, then there is no requirement for you to report them.
Always work in consultation with the Client Onsite Contact or other representative and/or Venue Management and/or Security.
Once you have completed the VSI it is not necessary to also complete the Safety InductionΒ for the same Shift, although you will need to take all Crew Members through the tool box talk – the Tool Box Talk – before any Crew Members commence work and all Crew Members on the job will need to complete the Safety Induction.
A VSI should be completed on all Shifts. On smaller jobs where no Crew Chief has been assigned, take leadership of the gig and conduct the VSI on behalf of the other less-experienced Crew Members you are working with. Encourage them to fill in the Safety Induction while they wait.
All SHS personnel of the rank of Senior Crew Chief or above (Field Manager and Section Manager) should complete the VSI as a matter of course on ALL jobs. However, be reminded that only one VSI is required, so if there is more than one of these Crew Members on board, decide which shall complete the VSI and which shall complete the Site Induction.
If there are no experienced Crew Members on a Shift, the Onsite Contact should use the SHS Venue Safety Inspection, or provide the equivalent safety documentation used by their company.
The SHS Client section of the VSI should be filled in accurately.
Experienced Senior Crew Members may complete the VSI as follows:
1. Open the Venue Safety Inspection
2. Select the Work Areas Inspected
3. Add any new areas or notes
4. Report any unique Safety Issues and Control Measures using the Risk Assessment
5. Press Next
6. Select relevant checkboxes for SHS Client safe work environment
7. Press Next
8. Enter Venue
9. Sign
10. Send
The Risk Assessment need not be completed within the Venue Safety Inspection unless there is an extraordinary Safety Issue that needs to be reported and acted upon that is outside the scope of any of the existing SHS Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
All SHS Safe Work Procedures and SWMS can found online at https://www.showsupport.com.au/procedures/.
If extra risk reporting is required, the Report Safety Issue Form can also be used.
All SHS Safety Documentation can be found at the Show Support website under the WHS drop down.
It is important that all SHS Crew Members and employees read, understand and familiarise themselves with all of the SHS Safe Work Polices and Safe Work Procedures and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) that are linked to within the Safety Induction and which can be accessed at any time at www.showsupport.com.au under WHS in the drop down menu.
The Venue Safety Inspection – VSI is part of our ongoing process to make our forms easily accessible to all SHS Crew Members online at https://www.showsupport.com.au/procedures/
TheΒ VSIΒ has been specifically created for ease of use and to be available at all times and locations.
The VSIΒ replaces the old paper version and requires no downloading, printing or scanning, is optimised for mobile use and is environmentally friendly.
There is a paper version that can be used as a back up and can be downloaded within the VSI.
By completing the Venue Safety Inspection, the results, signature and name of the senior Crew Member are sent to SHS Operations for electronic storage.
TheΒ Venue Safety InspectionΒ is easily accessible on the Show Support website under the WHS heading: Show Support Website > WHS >Β Venue Safety Inspection
We welcome all Feedback through the Feedback Form located in the header of the Show Support Website.
We thank all Crew Members and employees for taking the time to read and understand these important WHS Policies, Procedures and SWMS.
